Summer Style Guide for Men in Brisbane with Suits, Black Tie and Linen Outfits
The invitations arrive before the year feels ready for them. A client lunch. An evening with a dress code. A few days away that deserve to stay in the diary.
Brisbane is warming up. Tailoring is easing a little: softer shoulders, more room through the trouser, cloth with texture you can see in daylight. There is plenty here to enjoy.
Start with where you’re going. The clothes follow.
A SUMMER SUIT FOR THE WORKING WEEK
At nine, a meeting. At one, lunch across town. By six, someone suggests staying for a drink.
A summer suit should be comfortable through all three.
Dark blue remains a useful place to begin. A quiet weave, a white shirt, a burgundy tie. Brown Oxfords, polished. Give the trousers room through the thigh and enough length to fall cleanly over the shoe. You should be able to sit down without negotiating with them.

For a less formal working day, consider chocolate brown with a pale blue shirt, open at the collar. The colour has depth in sunlight; the combination carries easily into dinner.

The season’s easier proportions are worth considering at a fitting. A softer shoulder can still hold a clear line. A fuller trouser can sit neatly at the waist. Each adjustment should suit the person wearing it.
Dormeuil’s Tropical Amadeus collection offers blue and brown wool directions to explore. We’ll consider the cloth alongside the lining, construction and the way you spend your day.
Advice from Wil Valor
Sit. Walk. Reach forward. A fitting should involve a little ordinary life. Check that the collar stays close and the trousers settle when you stand.
BLACK TIE BEGINS WITH THE INVITATION
There is a particular pleasure in dressing for an evening properly. White shirt. Black bow tie. Silk lapels catching the light as you leave.
First, take the dinner suit out of its cover.
Try it with the shirt and shoes you intend to wear. Check the waist, the cuffs, the collar. The suit may have spent the year resting. You may have had a different year.
For traditional black tie, a black dinner suit, white evening shirt and black bow tie remain a handsome combination. Add a white linen pocket hank and polished black Oxfords. Keep the waistband clean and covered.

Where the invitation welcomes creative eveningwear, a deep green dinner jacket brings colour into the room. Carnet’s wool-and-silk micro-jacquard offers a direction worth exploring, with black formal trousers and restrained accessories.

For November and December events, tell us the date when you book. Suit production is usually around two to three weeks, subject to cloth, fittings and adjustments. We’ll confirm what is achievable for your occasion.
The finishing check
Fasten the collar with the bow tie in place. Check both cuffs. Find the cufflinks now.
LINEN FOR A LONGER LUNCH
A shaded table. Cold water arriving before the wine. An afternoon with very little scheduled after it.
Dress for that.
A sand linen shirt with navy tailored trousers is a good beginning. Tuck the shirt, keep a little ease through the leg and finish with brown suede loafers. Side adjusters give the waistband a clean line.

For dinner, try muted rust with stone trousers and suede Derby shoes. Warm colour, natural texture, a collar that sits properly. Albini’s Sahara linen collection is a useful starting point for the cloth.

Olive linen and stone tailored shorts suit a relaxed resort lunch. Take trousers for the restaurant that expects them. Holidays have dress codes too, though usually better views.

These earthy colours and easier shapes fit the season well. Choose them against your complexion and the clothes already in your wardrobe.
How to wear it
Choose two shirts that work with the same trousers. Linen will crease. Let it. Keep the collar, cuffs and fit tidy, and allow the cloth its afternoon.
