What to wear to a work Christmas Party in Australia

25th November 2022

Shopping for what you'll wear over the Spring/Summer party season can feel overwhelming, especially in Brisbane or the rest of Australia where it can get incredibly warm if your party is outside. Therefore, one of the most important things to keep in mind is the fabric or material of your suit.

At Wil Valor we have over 3000 high-end fabrics from Italian and English mills. We are particularly known for offering Zegna suit fabrics here in Brisbane. Ermenegildo Zegna is an Italian luxury house and is known for some of the most prestigious fibres in the world.

Here is a quick overview of some of the many types of fabric we offer, and why they may work for you.

Cotton

A popular choice as it is so comfortable, the cotton suit at Christmas is perfect from the office to the dance floor — so long as the event you are going to isn't formal. Keep in mind a cotton suit will crease more than a wool suit.

Wool

A cool wool such as Merino has stood the test of time, from the rigors of mountainous landscapes to the midday Mediterranean sun. Through its natural crimp, wool creates miniscule air pockets, which help regulate temperature and keep you fresh during the spring and summer. Most of our Zegna fabric suits sold in our Brisbane showroom are made from fine Italian light weight wool.

Linen

The most popular (and effective) way to use linen is not to necessarily get a full suit made. A linen jacket can be paired with a smart cotton chino and loafer to complete the look. Linen's natural breathability means it's predisposed to keep you cool as you party.

Velvet

Usually used more for tuxedo jackets, having a velvet jacket in festive colours is becoming more and more popular at Wil Valor. This fabric is great if you are going to a more formal event indoors at Christmas, where it will likely be a bit cooler. A green velvet jacket in particular makes quite a statement at Christmas and really should be a go to option for the colder climates.

At the end of the day, you want to pick a suit fabric that looks good, feels good and fits you perfectly.
